This policy explains how AUSCA Micro Finance Cooperative Society Ltd ("AUSCA", "we", "us"), of 78 Hospital Road, By Asa Road (3rd Floor), Aba, Abia State, handles your personal information when you use the AUSCA member app, the member portal at app.auscacoop.org, this website, or our services at a branch. It applies alongside the cooperative's registered bye-laws and is written to comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).

What we collect

• Identity and contact details: your name, phone number, email address, residential address, date of birth, photograph and member number.
• Identification (KYC) documents you provide when registering or applying for services, such as a government-issued ID.
• Financial records: your savings, contributions, loans, repayments, guarantees, welfare claims, store purchases and the transaction history of your accounts with the cooperative.
• Next of kin and guarantor details where you supply them on a membership or loan application.
• Technical information when you use the app or portal: device type, app version, log records of sign-ins and actions, kept for security.

How we use it

• To operate your membership: accounts, savings, loans, welfare and the store.
• To verify your identity and meet know-your-customer obligations.
• To process payments and payouts you ask for.
• To send you service messages by SMS, email or in-app notification: receipts, approvals, due-date reminders and important account alerts.
• To keep proper books of account as a registered cooperative society.
• To prevent fraud and keep member funds and records secure.

We process your information because it is necessary to perform our agreement with you as a member, to comply with our legal obligations as a registered cooperative, and for the legitimate interest of running the society securely. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

• Payment processors: online card payments are handled by Paystack. Your card details are entered on and processed by Paystack, not stored by AUSCA.
• Messaging providers that deliver our SMS and email notifications to you.
• Affiliated societies of the AUSCA Cooperative Movement, only where you are a member of, or transact with, that society.
• Regulators, auditors and law enforcement where the law or our cooperative registration requires it.

Service providers act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as you are a member. After your membership closes, financial and transaction records are retained for the period required by Nigerian law and cooperative regulations, then disposed of securely. How we protect it

Member records are held in access-controlled systems, encrypted in transit, and separated per cooperative so that one society can never read another's records. Staff access is role-based and every sensitive action is logged. No system is perfectly secure, so also keep your login details private and tell us at once if you suspect misuse of your account.

Your rights

Under the NDPA you may ask us to:

• show you the personal information we hold about you;
• correct information that is wrong or out of date;
• delete information we are not required to keep;
• object to or restrict certain processing;
• give you a copy of your information in a usable format.

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) if you believe your information has been mishandled.

Children

Membership and the member app are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 except where a member names a minor as a beneficiary or next of kin.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update this page and the date above, and tell members about significant changes through the app or by message.
